Dear readers, today I'd like to talk about the line of work I do compared to the 95% of "magicians" you see now a days, I hope this proves insightful, enjoy!
What I do is CLASSICAL card magic, not many people do this anymore. I would like to address this term as it has come to my attention that most, if not all, lay people do not know the difference between the style of magic I do in comparison to the other 95% of magicians, until they see me perform!
Listen closely. Lay people do not realise there are different styles of magic, they are used to seeing visual, meaningless pieces of “magic”, which to put it bluntly, is NOT magic! If you are reading this and you feel to be a victim of this form of “magic”, listen even closer.
What I do, classical card magic, is COMPLETELY different. By now you may be wondering what I mean by the term classical, am I referring to pulling cards out of the air, No!
This style of magic means I study the masters, read the classic books and perform the classic magic, unlike those mentioned above! I aim to create a miracle with a pack of cards every time I perform, I take my audience into the world of card cheats, gambling sleight of hand, superhuman ability and inexplicable miracles, I am to create pieces of astonishment they will remember. I take the audience into a world they could only dream of.
Compare this to what you usually see, a so called “magician” performing a pointless, meaningless trick, I don’t like the term magic trick but in this context I find it more than fitting, a mere puzzle with a “Solution”, this is the worst thing you can convey in your performance, a piece of magic should NOT be a trick, a mere puzzle - it should be a Miracle, nothing less!
You may wonder why the majority of magicians have this terrible outlook. It’s simple, they are lazy. Classical card magic and gambling sleight of hand is literally thousands of times harder.
The next time you see a so called magician waving a pack of chewing gum and turning it into something just as trivial, remember this post - my point will be clear!
I have nothing against those mentioned in this post, I just thought it was absolutely necessary to make this VERY important distinction between what I and others within my branch of conjuring do compared to the other 95% percent you see on a frequent basis! Thank you.
