This book is astonishing because it was published in 1938 and compiled by the great Hilliard throughout the 20’s and 30’s, consisting of work from 107 magicians spanning about 1300 pages!
This is amazing to think about because to do that today, would be a very difficult and overwhelming task, let alone in the 1930’s with no technology or internet to compile, write and network with the magicians to create this astounding book. Every item was gathered by JN Hilliard manually through hard work and tenacity - for us.
Moral of the story? Dive into the history of your books further, uncover their history and you will appreciate them even more and become a link in the history of magic.
More importantly, don’t make excuses when you have the biggest research and networking facility in your hands, right now, as you read this. JN Hilliard didn’t.
Let’s create GREATER magic together and push the craft forward - that’s what the masters would want. It’s up to us.
Thanks for reading,
Matt
